Land Rover - on assignment in Kenya with their new "Defender"

Our Land Rover assignment in Kenya was in conjunction with Tusk - the UK conservation NGO to whom I am affiliated. Tusk continues to show great innovation in finding ways to raise both awareness and money and their associations with global brands such as Land Rover and DHL are a case in point. It was Tusk’s idea that the new Defender should be shot in Kenya and play on the role these cars will play with rangers defending the country's iconic wildlife - in particular the lion, the rhino and the elephant. That was a smart idea and Land Rover bought it.

My time in Kenya reminded me of the strength of Tusk’s network on the ground in East Africa. They do as good a job in Kenya as any conservation NGO and I was delighted that my work raised £125,000 for their efforts at the Tusk Ball at Kensington Palace in May.

May was an important month for our giving back programme in 2019 and it looks like our work raised over £330,000 in the month for conservation NGOs and charitable organisations. We would not expect that run rate to continue and May is a big month for charity galas in London and New York, but it is a heartwarming number.
