Either side of the New Year we had shows in Gstaad, Switzerland and New Orleans, Louisiana as well as events at Art Miami and Dallas. The Art Miami week was characterised by tremendous footfall – as we anticipated – and it was a great thrill to have 30 images on show across Miami Beach in the 2nd week of December – quite a change from four a year ago and none in 2015. We would like to thank Holden Luntz, Maddox and Arthur Roger for their support and advocacy that week – they all had spectacular booths at a great fair.

We suspected that Maddox would do a cracking job in the glorious Swiss village of Gstaad over Christmas and New Year and this has indeed been the case. It was such fun to have my family over there for New Year and I thank Maddox and Julius Baer – who sponsored the show – which still continues to run as we go to press. All locals have said that the main street in Gstaad is better for Maddox’s presence and that is a great compliment to an outsider. I am very flattered to be chosen as their opening artist.

Dallas was our lead city in America in 2017 and it was appropriate therefore to start 2018 with a cracking party for 400 people at Al Biernat’s new restaurant on the North Side. Thank you to Al, Phil Romano, Steve and Anne Stodghill and our gallery partners and friends – JD Miller and Lea Fisher of Samuel Lynne.

It is early days in New Orleans for us, but we all had a great time and we are so lucky to have a partner in town as widely respected in the American south as Arthur Roger. His gallery space is as good as it gets for DYP in the US.
We have invested time into Chicago and this great city has now become a major market for us. Arica Hilton’s gallery – Hilton Asmus – still has a wide selection of our work on show and recently “The Old Testament” was projected onto a structure in Memorial Park. I have never seen one of my images displayed in more impressive form. The initiative also helped to raise awareness of the majesty of the African Lion and with their numbers now so low – every little helps.

In 2018 we have most recently opened in Toronto at the well known Izzy gallery. Izzy represents us across Canada and his gallery in Yorkville has only a small list of resident photographers such as Albert Watson, Ellen Von Unwerth and Frank Horvat. So I was flattered to join such an illustrious roster of artists. We look forward to a long and happy association with Izzy.
