Upcoming Events – August

Plans are now in their final stages to spend a week filming in South Georgia in the middle of November this year. We are teaming up with our partners and affiliates - Natural World Safaris - to do something fairly unique. I have hired a private ship (The Hanse Explorer) to make the two day journey from the Falklands and, weather permitting, we will then anchor off both St Andrews Bay and Salisbury Plain for six days. These are iconic destinations and rarely visited by small private groups. The goal is to land every day and spend the days filming. Our team are being joined by a top film crew from Australia led by my friend - Abraham Joffe - the man behind the acclaimed Netflix series "Tales by Light".

The Hanse Explorer has excellent facilities, but has been chosen South Georgia specifically because it is small - this is a not a tour and I am not acting as a guide - we are going there to work. Our footprint will be very light when we land. We have been finalising cabin accommodation and there is potentially room for two guests at this moment in time. This window will close very soon and if anyone is interested they should contact us immediately.

I would however throw in a few warnings - firstly it will not be cheap and secondly, anyone that does have an interest, would need to meet the team soon in London. Thirdly we are not going to Antarctica - this is deliberately a trip focused on the King Penguin colonies of South Georgia. Finally, it is up to everyone to find their way to the Falklands - but there are commercial flights with Lan Chile from Santiago. The good news is that there will be an excellent cellar of wine on board the boat as well as a few bottles of single malt whisky. The evenings will be merry.

Natural World Safaris are the best in class at what they do and I am working with them again in Svalbard next year. They know their way around the globe, but even for them this is a new adventure and I am hoping that we will come back with extraordinary content.
