Upcoming Events – March
Nikon European Ambassador
I was delighted in February to accept the invitation to become a European Ambassador for Nikon – a role that will start in April of this year. My relationship with the brand has grown significantly over the last year and I was honoured to be asked to showcase their new D850 last summer. The advertising campaign is now out and I enjoyed seeing my work – but less so my face – on the back cover of National Geographic this month. In March, I will be travelling with Kim Feenstra, the celebrated Dutch superstar, to Kenya to shoot a small film for the brand.
Multimedia Art Museum Moscow May 17
During my brief spell in Moscow this month it was emphatically clear that the countdown to the FIFA World Cup in Russia has started. No doubt it will be a great success – despite all the concerns over safety and Russia’s limited experience of hosting such an influx of foreigners.
Our own focus is, however, on a few weeks earlier than the opening game, as we are honoured to have been asked to open our exhibition at MAMM – on 17th May.
MAMM is one of the world’s truly prestigious photography museums and it is a thrill to follow in the footsteps of some of the giants of the craft.
The show will run for five weeks and judging from my visit to the museum in February, it will be beautifully curated. The Museum lead director – Olga Sviblova – is the Anna Wintour of photography and I have waited many years to win her attention and respect. It was humbling to watch her review my work – image by image – on a freezing Saturday afternoon in the suburbs of Moscow. I am the second Scot to be given the honour of an exhibition at MAMM – the first being my friend and mentor – Albert Watson.
We will be hosting several events in Moscow the week of the show and will be announcing details soon.
