Sotheby’s Auction - May 19, 2017
It is a great thrill to see an original “Mankind” under the Sotheby’s hammer at their leading photography sale in London on May 19th. There are 99 lots being auctioned that day and many of the most famous photographers of the last 50 years are involved. Celebrated works from Helmut Newton, Irving Penn, Albert Watson, Peter Beard and Peter Lindbergh are also being auctioned, so it is something of a seminal moment for me. Equally, it has taken 35 years, so I am far from an overnight sensation!
Mankind – taken in South Sudan in December 2014 – is probably my most coveted image and the two sizes available have both sold out of their editions of 12. It is the right image to test the market place at the right time for me as an artist.

As you will see, Mankind is lot 51. There are preview nights at Sotheby’s and some other special events in the preceding days, so please do contact our offices for further information if you are interested in attending. We are hopeful that the work will find a good home at a good price and equally importantly, I hope this is the start of a long relationship between Sotheby’s and myself.
Artist Reception - The Grange Club, Edinburgh May 17, 2017
I am looking forward to returning to my homeland for an event in Edinburgh on 17 May. I am a proud Scot and most of my wider family enjoy the wonderful life up there (if not the weather). This event is very full, but if you would like to come, please let us know and we will try our very best to fit you in. Photo London - Somerset House May 18-21, 2017
Despite being in only its third year, Photo London is now – by some margin – the most important photographic art fair in the UK. We are so proud to be represented by Holden Luntz of Palm Beach at the fair. Holden remains the most important advocate we have in photography and I am delighted that my work will again be hanging in Somerset House, seven months a er our well received show in 2016.
