Wild Encounters Deluxe Edition

2018
ICONIC PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE WORLD’S VANISHING ANIMALS AND CULTURES
A collection of unparalleled nature photography— spanning seven continents—by one of the world’s foremost photographers.
Capturing the splendor and very soul of what re- mains wild
... and free in our world through incredibly intimate—close enough to touch—portraits, Wild Encounters chronicles legendary photographer David Yarrow’s photographic exploits in the field. Driven by a passion for sharing and preserving the Earth’s last great wild cultures and species, Yarrow is as much a conservationist as a photographer and artist. His work has transcended wildlife photography, and is now collected and shown as fine art in some of the most famed galleries around the world.
Yarrow goes Pole-to-Pole, continent-to-continent mountain to tundra to primordial jungle—inviting us to truly connect with a subject that we mistakenly think we have seen before. Yarrow takes the familiar lions, elephants, tigers, polar bears—and makes them new again by creating iconic images that deliberately connect with us at a highly emotional level.
This Deluxe version of Wild Encounters is a limited edition of 500 and represents a triumph for esteemed publishers Rizzoli. The book comes with a signed David Yarrow print, additional images inside and a beautiful shell.

Encounter

2013
The Encounter Book is a collection of 87 powerful black and white photographs of wildlife and indigenous communities. The rich imagery in the book is accompanied by David’s contextual narrative, which unearths stories from his ... trips to some of the most remote corners of the globe. We learn of his penchant for using scents to lure Kenyan wildlife towards his camera lens, his face-to-face confrontation with a brown bear in Alaska and the patience and resolve required to capture his iconic picture of a Great White Shark in False Bay, Cape Town.
The book successfully conveys David’s appetite to get both physically and spiritually close to the personalities of dangerous animals and isolated communities; he is not afraid to go that extra mile.
African imagery is at the heart of Encounter and 10% of all of David Yarrow Photography’s sales go to Tusk Trust; an organisation that funds wildlife conservation, community development and environmental education programmes across Africa (www.tusk.org). This 176-page large-scale book is a luxurious addition to anyone’s coffee table.
