Ethereal Dune was a moment in time and now a big image for posterity. It was taken after Wild Encounters went to press, otherwise we may even have changed the front cover and reshaped the size of the book. The fierce desert wind was easterly, whilst these Namib sand dunes are caused by centuries of regular winds from the west. These rare conditions caused the sand storm to work against the grain. This conflict, when combined with very early morning light, created an ethereal canvas and a magical moment in time. The cat floats as gracefully as we all know that it walks and runs.
