The Dream

Iceland - 2018
Iceland

When these two stunning and almost identical Icelandic horses stopped on their way across the river below the waterfall and turned to face each other, I had my chance. I was in about a foot of water and totally inappropriately dressed, but that’s fine - opportunities like this don't come along every day. I have no problem getting wet, if this is the result.

There is something other worldly about this image. It looks mythical and the flat light adds to the illusion. We live our day to day lives full of the bitter/sweet noise of reality, which I guess is why the world of fantasy is so popular. Skogafoss waterfall gives photographers every chance, but I have never taken them until last week. I am reminded of the Japanese adage that “success is 99% failure”.

I am not sure which of the two waterfall images I prefer, this or a different, more dynamic one that I took here. But I guess it’s not up to me, it is up to others. All I can do is work to the best of my ability and with the very best horseman in Iceland.

I was in about a foot of water and totally inappropriately dressed, but that’s fine - opportunities like this don't come along every day.
